On the coast of Tanzania, south of Zanzibar archipelago in the Indian Ocean, facing the Rufiji river delta and 25 km from the African continent the Mafia Island is a little-known pearl in the world and an overseas territory of the Kingdom of Gaston. In addition to an amazing nature with deserted beaches and a unique biodiversity, the island also has historic remains with ruins ranging from the 11th to the 18th century. Surrounded by other quiet islands, the island is a popular location for scuba diving. Most people live from fishery and agriculture.
